Role Summary

Reporting to the Director of Process Excellence, this role will be responsible for producing structured process-related assessments across the construction project lifecycle, with the possibility to expand to related areas (Design, Procurement, etc.), as bandwidth allows. By identifying opportunities for process improvement and maturity (standardization, risk, variability, automation readiness) this role will be critical in uncovering bottlenecks, waste, and
gaps in our construction processes.

This position will play a key role in identifying AI use cases, automation opportunities, and the
input readiness required to enable them. It will be a key driver behind the development of intelligent, AI-infused operational processes that support Suffolk’s vision for consistent, data-driven,and scalable standards across Operations.
The ideal candidate is analytical, and action-oriented, and is capable of translating complex operational workflows into clear, standardized, and automation-ready processes.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
 
• Suffolk Standards & Process Execution
  • Execute enterprise-wide process mapping by creating detailed, consistent maps across the Operations platform, with a primary focus on core construction processes and the opportunity to extend upstream (Design) or downstream  (Procurement, Closeout, etc.) as program needs grow.
  • Process maps to include responsibilities, steps, clicks, keystrokes, decision points, systems, handoffs, exceptions, and failure modes. These maps should provide a complete end-to-end understanding of the project lifecycle, surfacing insights, gaps, and issues that drive operational improvements as well as AI and automation opportunities.
  • In partnership with the Director and other key stakeholders, generate insights and make improvement recommendations by analyzing patterns across workflows, identifying priority opportunities, friction points, risks and inconsistencies.
  • Assist in the development and application of structured prioritization criteria — including time to complete, audience impact, process maturity, and risk — to guide process analysis and improvement sequencing.
  • Partner with Data & Portfolio Intelligence to refine and quantify the process assessment model, integrating both qualitative and quantitative measures.
  • Lead the development of process adherence benchmarks and ROI assessment of impacted processes for a given improvement effort
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with ConTech, AI Studio, Operations, and Departmental Leaders to ensure alignment and successful execution of process initiatives.
  • Advance high-value operational areas (Requisitions, Schedule Update
  • Automation, Shop Drawings/Submittal Reviews) ahead of FY27 for early build and deployment.
  • Drive process maturity across all in-flight Operations Excellence (Ops Ex) programs through framework creation, ensuring full documentation of all in scope processes.
  • Collaborate with Data and Technology teams to design processes leveraging data and technological innovation- with a focus on ensuring processes adherence and reporting on adoption, maturity, and outcomes.
  • Assist wider Process Excellence Team in maintaining Suffolk Standards, ensuring proper review, approval, and publication in the Operations Playbook, as needed.
  • Partner with Ops Ex leadership to provide project management support for key programs, as needed
  • Stay current on industry best practices and trends in process management.
  • Support additional Ops Ex initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, or related field;
  • advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in process analysis or automation, Operational Excellence, or
  • process automation (construction experience a plus but not required).
  • Naturally curious, but also structured, with an adaptive working style.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Have experience collaborating cross-functionally and influencing stakeholders at all
  • levels.
  • Highly detail-oriented, but comfortable zooming out- from granular process mapping, to
  • surfacing patterns, themes and recommendations.
  • Capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with process documentation tools, Visio, Miro and/or others, a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Procore and
  • Bluebeam proficiency a strong plus.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and take ownership of responsibilities in a fast-paced
    environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Compensation Information

The expected salary range for this position (Manager, Process Excellence) in Boston, MA is between $99.0 and $139.0 (annualized USD).  This represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Suffolk’s total compensation package for employees.  Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, skill set, experience, education and other qualifications, including budgetary objectives.  Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy.  Salary ranges may differ by geography and are reviewed regularly to reflect market trends.
