Position Summary:

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing analytical solutions that drive data-informed decision-making at Suffolk Construction. This role leads the development of complex analyses and dashboards, ensures adherence to data governance and quality standards, and plays a critical role in enhancing the accessibility, accuracy, and strategic value of the organization’s data assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, endtoend analytical projects frame ambiguous business questions, design robust analyses across large or multisource data sets, and deliver clear, actionable insights that influence strategic decisions.
  • Translate strategic objectives into data requirements and Agile deliverables – partner with Product Owners to refine epics, decompose them into sprintready user stories with acceptance criteria, and drive their execution (analysis, development, testing, documentation) to ontime, highquality delivery.
  • Set standards for BusinessasUsual (BAU) data fulfillment own the BAU request pipeline, automate repetitive tasks, monitor SLAs, and coach team members to ensure consistent, scalable service levels.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to architect and evolve analysisready data models collaborate to define requirements, champion best practices in ELT/ETL and dataops, and validate that pipelines and marts meet analytical needs for accuracy, timeliness, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive selfdirected deepdive analyses that uncover growth and efficiency opportunities proactively surface hypotheses, design experiments or statistical tests, and translate findings into prioritized recommendations with quantified impact.
  • Influence and align senior stakeholders – craft executiveready narratives and visualizations, present findings to leadership, and build consensus on datadriven initiatives, investment decisions, and KPI definitions.
  • Elevate team capability – mentor analysts on analytical design, coding standards, QA, and storytelling; share best practices; and foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related fields. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in data space, with a minimum of 2 years as a Data Analyst with a proven track record managing complex pipelines or systems, consistently delivering high-performance ratings, and impactful contributions to business efficiency.
  • Advanced proficiency in data visualization frameworks (at least one enterprise BI platform - TableauorPowerBI; with some code-first JavaScript, Python, or R).
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and automation.
  • Intermediate understanding of data engineering (e.g., ETL processes, database optimization).
  • Advanced statistical analysis and problem-solving.
  • Experience with projectbased, assetheavy industries (construction, real estate development, infrastructure) is strongly preferred. Experience in the construction subcontractor/ self-perform industry will be a strong differentiator.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
