The Role

We are seeking a BIM Data Engineer to join our team in developing a seamless platform that bridges the design and construction phases of projects from start to finish. In this role, you will build and maintain BIM data pipelines and integrate them with other data workflows and endpoint solutions. Our ideal candidate is an experienced data engineer with a strong background in BIM data formats, eager to embrace new technologies and contribute fresh ideas to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines for extracting, transforming, cleaning, pre-processing, aggregating, and loading BIM data from diverse sources using tools such as Python, SQL, DBT, and other relevant technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable, efficient solutions.
  • Ensure data pipelines and integrations align with industry standards and best practices for BIM workflows.

Qualifications

Core Qualifications

  • 2-7 years in data engineering, with a focus on BIM data formats and workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; however, equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for data-driven decision-making and innovative data solutions.
  • Demonstrated passion for innovation and proven ability to stay current with evolving BIM technologies and data engineering trends.
  • Experience with programming languages including Python, JavaScript, and SQL.
  • Experience with BIM tools and frameworks such as Autodesk Platform Services, Speckle, IFC, or OpenUSD.
  • Strong background in data modeling, data architecture, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Track record of designing and implementing GraphQL and/or RESTful APIs, including model serving and endpoint creation.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data warehouse platforms, such as Databricks or Snowflake.
  • Experience working with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with graph databases and their applications in architectural or construction contexts.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.

Our good faith estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is a base salary of ($125,000 - $200,000) if based in the LA Market. Individual pay decisions will vary based upon the experience and qualifications of the applicant. This range is based upon  LA market rates and determined by considering many factors such as external market salary survey data, internal data for comparable roles, and the operational and budgetary objectives of the company. Suffolk also offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy.
