About the Role:

Our industry-leading Data Analytics Solution Center at Suffolk Construction is seeking a qualified Data Visualization Developer passionate about data, analytics, and data visualization. The ideal candidate will come from a data analytics or IT background and have experience with data visualization, data engineering and possess business analytics skills. This role will require both creative and collaborative work within the Data Analytics Solution Center and Suffolk’s wider business.

 

The Data Visualization Developer will be responsible for gathering requirements, conducting analyses, preparing and cleaning data, and building interactive data visualizations. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of designing our company’s next generation of data visualization products.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define project scope, vision, and requirements. 
  • Design, develop, and enhance data visualizations using Tableau and Power BI. 
  • Prepare, blend, and cleanse data from multiple sources using tools like Python, R, or SQL. Develop calculations and data manipulations to support analytical needs. 
  • Maintain and optimize data sources and visualizations on Tableau Cloud. 
  • Ensure high adoption rates of dashboards by focusing on UI/UX and data quality. 
  • Provide technical support and deliver end-user training and materials. 

Qualifications

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field; or equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analytics or a related field. 
  • Proficiency with Tableau and Power BI. 
  • Experience with data sourcing, transformation, and cleanup using Python, R, or SQL. 
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, charting, macros, and calculations. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to build complex calculations and manipulate data effectively. 

 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Tableau Desktop or Power BI certification (e.g., Exam DA-100). 
  • Experience in the construction industry. 
  • Knowledge of best practices in data visualization and UI/UX design.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
