The Assistant Manager, Business Development, will be a daily partner to the CMO, Marketing and the National Business Development Leader in all aspects of strategy, administration, research, and team support. The CMO and National BD lead will focus on developing strategies to bring in new opportunities and convert them into viable projects. Research, account planning, client engagement, and outreach strategies will all be led by this individual.

Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Research on market trends, clients, accounts, pipelines, competitors
  • Development of account plans
  • Monitor central registries, databases and BPDA for build opportunities
  • Manage CRM system on behalf of team
  • Support team members in strategy and execution of client events
  • Participate in all team meetings, including meetings with COOs, GM, and CEO to discuss pipelines and opportunities. Create agendas and follow up notes
  • Create presentations to support client and internal meetings
  • Create tracking reports for CMO and CEO

Client Engagement

  • Annual Thank Yous (management of distribution lists, gift identification and distribution)
  • Identify and track engagement opportunities for the team on a shared calendar
  • Identify and arrange hosting opportunities (to enhance relationship development) – in partnership with events manager
  • Management of materials and logistics for BD conference and events – in partnership with events manager
  • Conduct debriefs after events Suffolk attended/hosted/sponsored

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Marketing, or relevant discipline
  • Desired 3 years in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) industry
  • Extensive knowledge of construction markets and business sectors is essential
  • Must possess excellent communication skills – both verbal and written, with ability to produce highly professional proposals and presentations

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
