The Role

 

The Intranet Manager will be a key member of our talented and creative Corporate Marketing Team, reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, who reports to the Chief Marketing Officer. This individual will be part of a high-performance team that continually strives to innovate and improve using data and technology. The Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the intranet, including strategy, user experience, technology, analytics reporting, governance oversight, and engagement. Responsibilities

User Experience/Content

  • Oversee, manage, and continuously improve the intranet’s design, content (creation/editing), navigation, and homepage.
  • Develop and implement policies and standards to ensure effective content.
  • Oversee the homepage and company news channels.
  • Conduct user research and create UX strategies.
  • Maintain a consistent visual theme, editorial calendar, and overall quality control on content and design.
  • Design and manage the intranet site architecture.
  • Research and implement UX best practices.
  • Monitor intranet site analytics and KPIs.
  • Apply UX research and design principles to improve the website’s usability, accessibility, and engagement for various users and devices.

Technology

  • Design and manage SharePoint sites/pages, leveraging advanced knowledge of SharePoint security, content management, search engine optimization, metadata, and tagging.
  • Partner to develop/extend SharePoint sites, pages, workflows, and third-party interfaces.
  • Liaise with the IT Department and software vendors on technical implementation questions, ensuring proper coordination and management of common administrative tasks.

Strategy / Engagement

  • Collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams, executive stakeholders, steering committee members, and vendors to develop and implement an intranet strategy.
  • Lead, manage, and adjust governance, including content governance and governance bodies.
  • Work regularly with the core implementation team and key stakeholders to understand the business's changing needs and involve them in planning and problem-solving.
  • Coordinate the efforts of central content owners and involve users in structured design and planning activities.
  • Communicate actively with all main stakeholders and user groups, support intranet group owners in maintaining active communities, and provide introductions and training to users of all levels.
  • Maintain deep expertise in platform functionality and provide support and training to end-users and content contributors, as well as solutions for digital transformation.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to manage a high volume of requests daily and work with internal customers while able to estimate time schedules and working toward deadlines.

Administrative / Other

  • Maintain the intranet project budget.
  • Engage consultants as necessary for implementing certain development, planning and design activities.

Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft 365 Tech Stack, including SharePoint, Teams, Power Apps, Power Automate, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in intranet platforms and solutions, specifically Microsoft collaboration ecosystems, and managing corporate intranets and information-sharing solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience using SharePoint Online (Modern Experience).
  • Highly motivated self-starter, able to work efficiently in both independent and collaborative situations, with demonstrated flexibility and a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams, executive stakeholders, steering committee members, and vendors to merge perspectives, gain commitment, and improve relationships.
  • Experience setting priorities, roadmaps, and visions based on value-driven outcomes in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with engagement and digital experience platforms such as Microsoft Viva, Yammer, and FirstUp.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
