The Role 

The Operational Excellence group is actively seeking an Operations Strategy Manager to spearhead Suffolk's pivotal operational initiatives, facilitating scalable operations in line with the company's ambitious growth trajectory.  Reporting directly to the Director, Strategy and Change Management of Operational Excellence, this person will oversee and tackle the formulation and implementation of recommendations to improve the performance of Suffolk’s operations by using a multifaceted approach including thought leadership, value creation identification, stakeholder management, financial and operational analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

 

Beyond project management, the selected individual will serve as a strategic collaborator to the Director of Strategy and Change Management, actively contributing insights to align priorities within the Operations Excellence department. This role necessitates a dynamic blend of strategic vision and hands-on execution—a professional capable of delving into challenges while applying structured thinking to complex operational scenarios.

 

Operating in a highly cross-functional capacity, the Operations Strategy Manager will collaborate closely with business unit leaders to formulate solutions and engage with functional and operational heads to drive successful implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of strategic initiatives and long-term business strategies for business unit leaders from conceptualization to defining objectives and key results. This is includes but is not limited to: defining objectives and scope, structuring workplans and roadmaps, conducting and guiding analytical support setting and tracking metrics to measure results.
  • Identify value creation opportunities through Ops Ex initiatives and develop recommendations for presentation to senior management.
  • Design and execute implementation plans to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of improvement initiatives, and monitor and evaluate their impact and outcomes.
  • Guide Senior Management in strategic decision-making by providing data-driven insights and recommendations through comprehensive data analysis and stakeholder interviews to diagnose root cause issues and generate actionable insights on key operational challenges and opportunities.
  • Ensure strategic alignment through cross-functional collaboration and communication to drive alignment and consensus on strategic priorities and solutions, and ensure successful adoption of initiatives across all levels of the org.
  • Leverage deep understanding of Operations team requirements and workflows to develop and recommend practical and innovative solutions that meet business needs and enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations to senior leadership, communicating key findings, recommendations, and progress updates in a clear and concise manner.
  • Build and maintain consensus with Ops Ex leadership on department goals through annual planning process .
  • Act as a liaison and trusted advisor between Mission Control and Strategy & Change Management department, ensuring coordination and integration across all interdependent efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, STEM field, Construction Management or similar. 
  • 3-5 years experience of management consulting or program management 
  • Capable of driving work independently both as a project leader and in the context of broader team projects. 
  • Ability to break down and solve problems through structured thinking and quantitative analysis to develop creative solutions to analytical, organizational, and behavioral challenges. 
  • Results oriented with excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop creative solutions to analytical, organizational, and behavioral challenges. 
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to prioritize and drive multiple simultaneous projects. 
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive project success. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 
  • Willingness to jump into the details and nuances of a problem to chart the best path forward. 

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
