The Regional Scheduling Manager provides planning and scheduling expertise to the region or business sector and ensures that Suffolk scheduling standards of practice are consistently applied. This is a working manager that oversees scheduling and scheduling services but also is the scheduler on projects in the region.  This role ranges from assisting project teams in developing and maintaining project schedules, reporting status at the project and corporate level, determining scheduler staffing needs for the region and assigning projects, hiring and mentoring scheduling staff,  developing and training employees in planning and scheduling techniques, connecting and enabling project schedulers, guiding project teams faced with challenging situations and optimizing the opportunities available to them, uniformly applying Suffolk’s standards of practice for planning and scheduling to all projects. Individuals in this role have highly developed communication and technical skills in scheduling, claim avoidance, and claim analysis.  The Regional Scheduling Manager possesses specific knowledge of construction process flow and sequencing used in developing a construction schedule and is skilled at instructing teams on the best practices of schedule development. They are skilled in the current version of scheduling software, Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management. This is a proactive position with a strong desire to promote the excellence of planning and scheduling throughout the Suffolk organization.


  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline and a minimum of 15 years of scheduling experience on large-scale construction projects.
  • Experienced in construction processes to be able to develop a proposal schedule from RFP documents for Healthcare, Science and Technology, Commercial/Residential (Highrise), Government, and Educational projects.
  • Certified Subject Matter Expert in CPM Scheduling. Candidate must be willing to be AACEI certified as a PSP (Planning and Scheduling Professional) within 6 months of gaining this position.
  • Proven experience in cost and resource loading CPM’s.
  • Proven experience in construction claims preparations from the scheduling standpoint.
  • Must have the technical expertise to run the current version of Primavera P6 Enterprise Scheduling Software with cost/resource loading and earned value features.
  • Consideration of other certifications such as Earned Value, Forensic Analysis, LEED, Lean Construction, or Six Sigma are a plus.


Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

  • The Scheduling Manager must be able to travel to and work at project sites within the region and be based in the regional office(s) to be effective and accessible.
  • -May require some overnight travel to project locations that are a long distance from the regional office.
  • -Able to carry and set up a portable laptop and projector at project sites.
  • -Physically able to walk on project sites that are in some phase of construction.

  • Must possess full proficiency in CPM scheduling techniques and principles, including the demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills with a strong working knowledge of importing and exporting information into Primavera P6 Scheduling Software.
  • Subject Matter Expert in CPM scheduling with the ability to review and analyze schedules and changes to determine the impact on a project.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information in a concise manner and to make recommendations on strategies to resolve project issues is required.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to apply appropriate communication techniques to various individuals.
  • Ability to connect and enable direct reports.
  • The ability to strategically manage uncertainty and take in in the right direction.
  • Positive stakeholder service orientation, with both internal and external stakeholders is required.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
