The Role: 

The Analyst, Data and Inisghts will serve as a cross-functional strategic partner to help support and handle various segments of Suffolk's Risk Management program.  In conjunction with Risk, Insurance, Claims, Safety, Finance, Legal, and Operations, the role will act as an analyst and project manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management oversight of Risk Management tools and applications
  • Help identify and produce analytical/quantitative data in insurance programs and assist with risk related analyses, reports, tables, dashboards, and graphs as requested
  • Identify and analyze critical issues and efficiency opportunities and help develop and implement recommended solutions
  • In coordination with Corporate Accounting, maintain, manage, and track team invoice database and schedule to ensure on time payments of insurance premiums, deductible billings, etc.
  • Utilize safety and operational observation data, as well as lessons learned, to improve and enhance jobsite safety
  • Serve as a resource for Suffolk Operations with site specific questions and problems related to insurance and risk
  • Provide training to project managers, superintendents and administrative support on risk processes and procedures
  • In coordination with Corporate Accounting, maintain, manage, and track team invoice database and schedule to ensure on time payments of insurance premiums, deductible billings, etc.
  • Assist in the coordination, supervision and completion of special projects including department related special events and activities
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with Executives, Department Heads and Project Management, staff in other departments, subcontractors & clients, Insurance Carriers and Brokers
  • Assist with the administration of surety bonds
  • Update project pipeline reports for Suffolk insurance programs and coordinate the startup of new projects and enrollment
  • Maintain and track insurance policy schedules and cost information
  • Utilize multiple Risk Manamgent Information Systems/Applications to source, review, and clean data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, additional legal and/or insurance experience is preferred
  • Sound understanding of insurance and knowledge of coverage terms
  • Understanding of financial/accounting principles including strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities
  • Thorough working knowledge of computer applications used in general office settings, including word processing, spreadsheet, database management, PowerPoint, email and internet search engines
  • Nice to have - Basic Salesforce platform knowledge

  • Willingness and ability to expand knowledge and effectiveness in both the commercial insurance industry and the construction industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal with all levels of staff
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive, or critical claims situations
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast paced, changing work environment
  • Initiative to meet designated time tables with minimum supervision.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
