Suffolk Constructions Data Analytics team is looking for a planning and scheduling Co-Op for the Spring 2021 Semester! 


In this role you would provide support to the planning department and project team to facilitate the planning, and sequencing of construction project work to ensure project completion within desired timeframes.

As a Planning & Scheduling Co-Op you will cover the following: 


Scheduling Basics: Develop a fundamental understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.

  • Work Breakdown Structure and the process workflow for creating a CPM schedule.
  • Basic scheduling theory and calculations
  • Suffolk’s scheduling standards of practice (SOP’s)
  • Understand the interface with scheduling and Lean.


Scheduling Softwares:  Gain the ability to create, update and review project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6.

  • Use the standard WBS in setting up a schedule.
  • Add and delete activities.
  • Create and understand activity relationships.
  • Code and organize activities.
  • Filter and sort activities
  • Create layouts and formats for viewing and printing schedules.

Deltek Acumen:

  • Run & Report Monthly Functional Reports and Quality Ribbons. 
  • Analyze & generate reports to determine Quality of Schedules.


A successful Co-Op will be able to bring the following to the team: 


Proposal Schedules:

  • Ability to work closely with Executives to create proposal schedules for upcoming projects. While also working closely with Operations staff to produce durations and sequencing in the proposal schedule. Ability to Use information from the historical scheduling database to validate proposal durations
  •  Assist project teams in creating and managing a baseline schedule for active projects.  You will have a senior level scheduler as a mentor (1 to 2 days per week) on an active project to see how scheduling is done at Suffolk.
  • Prepare update forms, Update the project schedule, Report and print Project Schedules, using different layouts.

Planning Data Analytics:

  • Work with Data Analytics team for developing Reports, Dashboards & Analytical tools; Validate and Reconcile data between different platforms such as Oracle P6, Microsoft PowerBI, Deltek, Acumen & Tableau.
  • Analyze quality of baseline schedules and monthly schedule updates using different approaches to identify systems that are at risk.

Monthly Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly project status reports communicating schedule trends, Monthly Schedule Risk Reports, KPI’s reports for VP’s, COO’s & Presidents.
  • Support updating- Job Aids and Manuals.
  • Publish Monthly schedule quality & Functional metrics, Monthly weather reports.
  • Publish Exception reports and ensure corrective actions are taken

The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
