About the Role:

The Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for managing requirements gathering and prioritization on highly cross-functional projects throughout the Suffolk Project Life Cycle (SPLC). The BA will provide support to the project managers and project teams in identifying gaps derived from data and process analysis. This role will support various technical and business process excellence initiatives. The BA will reside in Suffolk PMO. In addition to supporting business projects, the BA will also support PMO internal initiatives.  


  • Identifying and capitalizing on data and process improvement opportunities
  • Acting as a liaison between cross-functional project business teams and IT
  • Employing facilitation techniques in discussing requirements with clients (e.g. brainstorming, structured walk through, JAD sessions)
  • Identifying current state vs. future state using a variety of applicable tools and techniques depending on the project and its complexity
  • Producing required project analysis documentation (business requirements, RACI, document control, sequence diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD), Data Flow Diagrams (DFD), UAT plan, Traceability matrix, Gap Analysis, User Stories and Test Scripts
  • Bringing focus on quality improvement and data management; ensuring data is reliable and valid; developing process improvements or re-engineering
  • Displays strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills; effective team building skills.
  • Driving process driven conversations for integrating new systems and processes with existing ones, and partnering with business teams and PM to meet the long-term business strategies
  • Analyzing and synthesizing business requirements for prioritization
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Driving formal approval process of artifacts prepared for a project
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
  • Lead discussions and workshops with the business to draw out and fine tune business requirements
  • Manage business teams in conducting UAT



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.


  • 4-6 years of overall professional experience of which 2-3 in a dedicated business or process analyst role
  • 3-5 years of experience in MS office and Visio
  • Experience in partnering with PM for end-to-end project life cycle
  • Demonstrated ability to exceed individual and project delivery objectives
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Knowledge in consulting basics and business analysis
  • Self-driven, highly organized, and very effective time management skills
  • Possesses a “get the job done” attitude!

Preferred, Not Required:

  • Data analysis experience
  • Vendor management experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
