Overview

The role for Senior Software Engineer is a senior level contributor who will support and oversee various software and data engineering efforts. This individual must have a demonstrated expertise in a wide range of technologies, IT concepts, and practices. Development environments will be primarily focused on but not limited to NoSQL databases and the related management and analysis of data related services. Ability to design and lead the development of complex solutions often requiring third party integrations, KPIs and analytics, combined with a detailed knowledge of the related business process. Daily involvement overseeing outside consultants and potentially offshore resources.

Responsibilities

  • Senior contributor to architect, develop, and maintain custom solutions within Suffolk’s enterprise development environments.
  • Strong background in the use of different types of Application Programming Interfaces (API) and related technology (FTP, JSON, SOAP etc). Strong background in relational database development and related schema design.
  • Ability to define technical specifications and standards for other contributors. This includes coordinating tasks and managing technical deliverables particularly around custom integration development work.
  • Work between the Infrastructure, Applications, and various departmental teams to ensure functional requirements are met with technical solutions that are scalable and secure solutions.    
  • Lead code and design reviews, help implement and adhere to technical standards across IT.
  • Works with and help direct outside consultants to deliver project work.
  • Willing to learn new technologies and business processes as necessary as well as train others.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with users, peers, and all levels of management to resolve technical and functional issues
  • Participate in design workshops with business users and gather key requirements

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in software development in an enterprise environment
  • Background with Oracle and SQL Server database development (Oracle ERP experience preferred)
  • Background in writing and communicating complex technical and functional requirements. This could include data integration and ‘ERD’ type diagrams. 
  • Strong knowledge of Dell Boomi or like integration platform preferred
  • Experience with of API management and security around the APIs.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure and networking as it relates to sizing and scaling services  
  • Project management proficiency, strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Self-motivated and organized with the ability to work with minimal supervision

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
