The Cost Engineer/Project Controls supports the Project Management Team in processing extra work proposals and work orders, issuing change orders, and various cost tracking tasks associated with a large high-profile commercial construction project scheduled for completion


  •  Cost Engineer/Project Controls will be knowledgeable of general accounting and  contract administration practices and will be responsible for the following:
    • Maintain Change Event files in Suffolk’s Project Management Software.
    • Solicit, receive, and audit Subcontractor change event pricing for compliance with Suffolk requirements.
    • Receive and audit Subcontractor extra work orders for compliance with Suffolk requirements.
    • With guidance from the Project Management Team, issue Subcontractor Change Orders and track to final completion.
    • Assist Project Managers with preparation of Owner Change Orders.
    • Assist Project Controller and Project Managers with cost studies and projections as requested for various supplies, utilities, and other expenses.
    • Assist Project Managers in procurement of Subcontracts and Purchase Orders.
    • Work closely with Project Management team and Project Controller on all facets of project accounting and office administration issues.
    • This position is an excellent entry point into the construction management industry and will support long term growth into either the Project Controller or Project Management roles.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field preferred though not required.
  • Zero to three years of related experience.
  • Construction accounting experience a plus.
  • Outstanding team player with good interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
