  • Overview

    The Senior Marketing & Work Acquisition Manager is an essential contributor to acquiring new work to support enterprise and sector specific market expansion. Works closely with colleagues in leadership, operations, estimating, and business development, to develop winning strategies and best-in-class materials that communicate a clearly defined value proposition that positions Suffolk as the builder of choice.  Participates and contributes in sector-specific strategic planning sessions and offers high-level participation in sector-specific business opportunities nationally. He/She actively contributes to national strategic sector expansion discussions. The Senior Manager rovides strategic guidance and direction on all sector specific opportunities, while leading high profile and complex submissions across sectors and regions as needed. Share sector trends, strategic direction, and updated content with marketing peers and other colleagues.

    • Maintains a high-level, long-term view of the market and Suffolk’s business development strategy through participation and contribution in 5-year sector-specific strategic planning sessions
    • Collaborates with peers in marketing and business development to identify sector trends, ensuring clarity around messaging
    • Provides strategic guidance and feedback on draft content/layout to help ensure communication of clearly defined client/project centric message, quality, and branding
    • Participates in internal and client debriefs to gain insight and manage lessons learned and communication of best practices to ensure continued improvement
    • Leads marketing efforts on complex and high-profile opportunities and delivers best-in-class RFX responses and interviews by driving strategy and a clearly defined client/project centric value proposition
    • Works closely with marketing colleagues and coordinates with operations, estimating, leadership, and business development teams to manage timelines for production and packaging of final submissions, handouts, agendas, boards, presentations
    • Manages development and updates/enhancements to marketing materials, such as capability narratives, resumes, project profiles, as needed
    • Oversees project photography and project team debrief interview process on completed projects
    • Partners with Corporate Marketing on communication, branding, PR, and general marketing initiatives (award submittals, collateral/brochures, advertising, social media, announcements, newsletter, blog, etc.) as needed
    • Collaborates with other senior members on the team to determine resource allocation and availability for upcoming work assignments
    • Provides mentoring, training, and direction to junior members of the team


    • BS/BA with concentration in marketing, business, or communications preferred
    • 10+ years in marketing of professional services or similar field
    • Proven leadership, team building and mentoring skills
    • Proven ability to initiate work, make strategic decisions, and follow through to meet deadlines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service
    • Exceptional attention to detail with an emphasis on quality
    • Excellent writing skills and strong design sense with a high level of creativity
    • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    • Solid technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint)
    • Up-to-date with latest industry, sector, and marketing trends is a plus

    Working Conditions

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
