  • Overview

    The Diversity and Compliance Specialist is responsible for the administration of Liberty and Affiliates’ Diversity and Compliance programs. This position collaborates with Suffolk’s Trade Partner Diversity Team, Payroll, and Finance teams on a regular basis. The candidate will work with Community and labor leaders (city, state and/or Federal) on issues surrounding diversity and compliance to ensure adherence to applicable regulations.

    • Interact with members of Suffolk’s Trade Partner Diversity Team, Payroll, and Finance teams and Functional Leaders in both operations and non-operations, in order to obtain and maintain information required to complete and submit compliance reports.
    • Generate data reports using Sage/Timberline Systems, from which data, configuration and upload will be accomplished, in a variety of formats, to satisfy various Federal, State, and Local reporting requirements, on a weekly basis.
    • Maintain profiles on external systems [such as LCP Tracker] including, but not limited to, wage-rates, benefit-rates, employee information, and union status.
    • Develop and trouble-shoot, both canned and ad-hoc reports, with a view toward sustaining and/or improving the objectives of smooth and timely reporting.
    • Monitor the activity surrounding personnel, as well as Job acquisition/progress, as relates to, and impacts, the goal of proper and accurate compliance reporting.
    • Explore both internal and external Systems and methods, in search of efficiency improvements, data compatibility resolutions, and interface simplification, with regard to all compliance reporting.
    • Advise and assist on other similar-level Payroll/Accounting duties, as necessary or assigned.
    • Prepares weekly workforce diversity reporting in accordance with compliance requirements for Cities, States, government entities, and identified job sites which have such requirement. Attends compliance meetings with Liberty team and General Contractor compliance representatives.
    • Prepares internal reports as needed and/or requested and prepares government reports to remain in compliance.
    • Create a weekly/monthly checklist to ensure all necessary filings are completed timely.
    • Develop internal controls to ensure new projects are examined to determine applicable diversity and compliance requirements.
    • Acts as liaison to community-based organizations that are concerned with labor and business issues.
    • Analyzes compliance data & makes recommendations to management for improvements on projects
    • Refers qualified workers to project managers for placements to help meet project goals.


    • Ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of payroll/compliance experience. 
    • Construction industry experience is a plus.
    • Union-Trade Payroll familiarity is a plus.
    • Knowledge of Sage/Timberline and Microsoft’s Office suite is a plus.

    Working Conditions

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
