Overview

The Director of Strategy & Operations reports to the Executive Vice President, Strategy, and is responsible for identifying the analytic and information needs of the business and providing guidance for decision-making with fact and data based recommendations. He/she will also identify opportunities to improve the productivity, impact and quality of all service delivery activities, enabling leadership to make the right decisions and take the right actions toward achieving their Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Growth Initiative Strategy and Portfolio Management: Work with business leaders to develop strategies for growing existing businesses and establishing adjacency growth opportunities including utilization of new technologies and business models. Manage our current growth portfolio and support business leadership in achieving growth goals.
  • Inorganic Growth Development: Identify and develop growth opportunities through mergers & acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures. Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential opportunities that support our overall business strategy.
  • Project Based Planning and Analysis: Support the Executive Committee, departments, and functional areas with project based strategic planning, financial and business analysis, and business development activities.
  • Enterprise Growth Management: Program management responsibility for our enterprise-wide growth development and initiatives process.
  • Annual Strategic Planning: Run annual strategic planning process for the company culminating in a strategic plan review with the Executive Committee.
  • Special Projects: Special projects may arise in areas such as: strategic marketing, business plan development, supply chain analysis, and initial market assessments for new business concepts.
  • Consult with C-suite and executive leadership on critical strategic initiatives
  • Develop business cases and scope documents for key initiatives and projects
  • Create strategic and operational project plans and supporting documentation for each project
  • Provide change management support to corporate initiatives and individual projects
  • Identify opportunities and develop business cases for innovation and continuous improvement
  • Be recognized as an expert in strategic planning, business processes and systems
  • Across a matrixed environment, lead and manage project teams; coach and mentor project managers and team members; and lead and ensure cross functional alignment
  • Lead strategic analyses and analytics projects
  • Lead quarterly prioritization discussions with a fact-based approach
  • Provide analytical support for the implementation of priorities
  • Assist in annual goal setting
  • Enable flawless execution and delivery of analytics related reports, working in partnership with stakeholder teams
  • Support ongoing changes in reports and dashboards to address changes in business landscape

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree & MBA required
  • 5-7 years of progressive business/leadership experience in Analytics, Business Operations and Strategic Consulting

  • Demonstrated high level of influence/negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; skilled at project management.

  • 6+ years’ experience in a management consulting firm, corporate strategy function or venture capital firm
  • Proven ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organization, including senior management
  • Ability to quickly evaluate business trends and develop successful solutions that enhance business performance
  • Effective communication skills with a demonstrated ability to synthesize analysis and conclusions in written reports and oral presentations
  • Familiarity with a full range of qualitative and quantitative research methods,
  • Ability to prioritize work-streams to achieve multiple objectives concurrently
  • Project experience to include corporate or business strategy development
  • Candidates must have experience in both building strategy and executing it with demonstrable results and outcomes
  • Extensive experience with Power Point, Excel and/or Google Sheets

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
