Overview

The IT Field Services Engineer works at the regional office as a member of the IT team and focuses on overall support for the office, as well as the regional job sites.  Face to face support will make up most of your day, troubleshooting problems related to the desktop-computing, server, network, wireless or remote environments. The position requires excellent leadership, communication, technical and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide superior support and service to a wide range of internal contacts. 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Must be a self-starter and be self-motivated 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues and work with other teams to follow the issues to resolution 
  • Support of VIP needs and issues 
  • Serves as second level support for Help Desk requests and incidents with emphasis on medium to difficult issues 
  • Follows and creates standard operating procedures around process and documentation  
  • Recommends and implements process improvements  
  • Responds to job site service requests regarding installation, configuration and maintenance of internet services, firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and Audio/Visual systems 
  • Adheres to established operating procedures as outlined in processes and documentation, and proposes enhancements. 
  • Must be able to travel frequently within the New York region and occasionally to other locations out of state. 
  • Occasional travel to regional offices or jobsites outside the New York region may be required. 
  • Additional duties as assigned 

Qualifications

    • College degree preferred  
    • 4 - 7 years’ experience working in IT role including Help Desk and Hardware deployment/configuration, 2-3 years of end-user facing support 
    • Ability to work both independently and as a member of the IT Team 
    • SME knowledge of PC hardware and software with an emphasis on Microsoft environments 
    • Working knowledge of all components of IT infrastructure including desktops, servers, routers, switches, wireless devices and mobile devices 
    • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure is a plus 
    • Working knowledge of Audio-Visual technology and systems 
    • Understanding of LAN/WAN administration and support 
    • Ability to interface and service VIP’s with professionalism and confidence 
    • Familiarity with Service Desk Ticketing software (Service Now) 
    • Proficient troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate problem sources. 
    • Excellent customer service skills 
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written 
    • Willingness to work in a highly structured environment 
    • Ability to work and prioritize well in a fast-paced, dynamic atmosphere, quickly tackling difficult issues with ease 
    • Outstanding time management skills 
    • Basic project management skills 
    • Ability to develop processes and documentation 
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds 
    • Must possess a valid driver's license 
    • Must have reliable transportation 

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
