Responsibilities

Planning Analytics:

 

  • Coordinate with Data & IT team for developing Reports, Dashboards & Analytical tools; Validate and Reconcile data between different platforms such as Primavera P6, Excel & PowerBI.
  • Verify all scheduled activities are tagged with a Systems of Work & Line of Balance global code for enabling detail analysis.
  • Collect cycle time production data for concrete, steel, and wood structures, facades, interior roughs, and interior finishes for capturing historical data.
  • Analyze the quality of baseline schedules and monthly schedule updates using different approaches to identify the scope of work that are at risk.
  • Conduct Monthly Regional review meetings with planner, managers and directors.
  • Support developing deep dive analysis for schedule risk project.
  • Ensure schedule compliance with Suffolk’s Planning & Scheduling SOP’s.

Portfolio Reporting:

 

  • Prepare executive FOCUS Reports with accurate reporting for VPs, COO’s & Presidents.
  • Support updating- Job Aids and Manuals.
  • Assist Monthly schedule quality & Functional metrics,
  • Publish Exception reports and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Scheduling Basics:

 

Develop a fundamental understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.

  • Work Breakdown Structure and the process workflow for creating a CPM schedule.
  • Basic scheduling theory and calculations.
  • Suffolk’s scheduling standards of practice. (SOP’s)

Scheduling: 

 

  • Gain the ability to create, update and review project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Use the standard WBS in setting up a schedule.
  • Add and delete activities.
  • Create and understand activity relationships.
  • Code and organize activities.
  • Filter and sort activities.
  • Create layouts and formats for viewing and printing schedules.

Proposal Schedules:

 

  • Assist Regional Planners in developing proposal schedules for upcoming projects.
  • Apply the scheduling basics to prepare a proposal schedule using scheduling software.
  • Begin to develop an understanding of how long it takes to build segments of a project.
  • Use information from the historical scheduling database to validate proposal durations.

Active Project Schedules:

 

Assist project teams in creating and managing a baseline schedule for active projects. You will have a senior level scheduler as a mentor (2-3 times a month) on an active project to see how scheduling is done at Suffolk.

  • Prepare update forms.
  • Update the project schedule.
  • Understand the critical path.
  • Know what activities slipped from the previous update.
  • Know how to request and add subnets to the schedule.
  • Develop a 6-8 week look ahead in the standard format from the updated schedule.
  • Report and print Project Schedules, using different layouts.

Qualifications

  • Should have the ability to effectively communicate and influence supervisors, peers, and external partners.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, construction management or other engineering/construction disciplines.
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.3 or higher.
  • Thrive in managing multiple, competing priorities in a deadline driven environment.
  • Highly motivated, passionate about construction management, should be curious to learn and challenge the status quo.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
