Responsibilities

The Operations Finance Associate plays a key role in driving Suffolk’s Operations Finance efforts, transforming financial data into actionable insights that improve project and portfolio performance. Reporting to the Director, Operations Finance, this role is central to delivering accurate reporting, maintaining high-quality data, and strengthening and analyzing the core financial processes that support data integrity and financial visibility across the business.

Partnering with Operations Finance leadership, Regional Controllers, and cross-functional teams, the Associate plays a hands-on role in executing, analyzing, and improving financial processes, reporting, and analytics. This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented, analytically minded professional who enjoys working with data, improving how things work, and contributing to a modern, insight-driven and increasingly AI-enabled finance organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and analyze weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, identifying key trends, variances, and performance drivers
  • Support tracking of project financial performance, including forecast accuracy, cost-to-complete, exposure, and margin trends
  • Assist in identifying risks and opportunities within project financials and escalate insights to senior team members

Data Integrity & Management

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial data across systems, resolving data discrepancies as needed
  • Assist in maintaining a reliable “source of truth” for project financial data
  • Trace data issues back to upstream processes and workflows, helping identify root causes and partnering with stakeholders to resolve them

Reporting Tools & Analytics Support

  • Work across financial systems including Oracle EBS, Textura, Procore, SplashBI and Vena to support reporting and analysis
  • Support development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and datasets in collaboration with senior team members and the Data Analytics team
  • Assist in building repeatable reporting tools, improving accessibility of financial insights, and supporting occasional ad hoc reporting requests for finance leadership
  • Support the use of advanced analytics and emerging AI-enabled tools to enhance reporting, insights, and workflow efficiency

Process Execution & Improvement

  • Execute and manage core Operations Finance processes including project setup, reporting cycles, and forecasting support, with a focus on continuous improvement and supporting the transition of select activities to Global Business Services (GBS) to ensure efficient and seamless handoff
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate reporting and financial workflows, including leveraging emerging AI-enabled tools where appropriate
  • Support implementation of process improvements by helping define requirements, testing solutions, and ensuring alignment between business needs and system capabilities
  • Analyze financial processes end-to-end to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and opportunities for improvement in data flow, reporting accuracy, and operational execution

 

Industry Expertise & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Regional Controllers, Project Controllers, Accounting, Data, and Technology teams to support financial reporting and analysis
  • Develop an understanding of project financial lifecycle and operational drivers of performance
  • Support communication of financial information to ensure alignment across teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or analytical roles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify key trends and drivers
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with financial systems (e.g., Oracle) and data/BI tools is a plus
  • Understanding of financial processes and how data flows across reporting, forecasting, and operational workflows
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and integrity
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams
  • Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn new tools and technologies

Compensation Information

The expected salary range for this position (Financial Analyst) in US-MA-Boston is between $89,000 and $121,000 USD.  This represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Suffolk’s total compensation package.  Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, education and other qualifications.  Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy.  Salary ranges may differ by geography and are reviewed regularly to reflect market trends.
