Position Summary 

The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in driving project excellence, team performance, and client satisfaction across Suffolk’s regional operations. This leader ensures operational consistency from project startup through closeout, using data-driven insights to enhance efficiency, mitigate risk, and deliver exceptional results. The Operations Manager partners closely with project teams, department heads, and senior leadership to uphold Suffolk’s standards and strengthen the connection between regional and national operations. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of Suffolk’s operational strategies, ensuring projects align with company standards for safety, quality, and performance. 
  • Monitor the health of the regional project schedules, safety performance, and quality control; identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Partner with VP Operations and Project Leaders to develop action plans that address performance gaps and optimize results. 
  • Facilitate schedule reviews with project site Superintendents to identify early and forecast any variance. 
  • Provide leadership, advice, and assistance to field staff regarding materials, sequencing, personnel and methods of construction. 
  • Work with regional leadership on project staffing to identify efficiencies. 
  • Oversee consistent project startup, execution, and closeout practices, including the deployment of standard tools, dashboards, and technology. 
  • Support project teams through proactive communication, problem-solving, and leadership engagement. 
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing key findings, trends, and recommended corrective actions. 
  • Cultivate a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all project teams. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. 
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in construction operations or project management. 
  • Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, risk management, and operational controls. 
  • Proven ability to analyze performance data and develop actionable improvement strategies. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence at all levels. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management technology platforms. 
  • Ability to travel regionally (up to 50%).

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Compensation Information

The expected salary range for this position (Operations Manager) in USVI, FL is between $229.0 and $330.0 (annualized USD).  This represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Suffolk’s total compensation package.  Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, education and other qualifications, including budgetary objectives.  Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy.  Salary ranges may differ by geography and are reviewed regularly to reflect market trends.
